#boundtochange / brand campaign for fashion collection

#bound2change is an ode to the many things we take for granted, of the consequences bound to happen if we do not change. It speaks of the obligations for us to start the change.
We can change.

In this cross disciplinary project, I collaborated with my peers from the School of Fashion to respond to relevant issues concerning contemporary design practice. Textiles leave one of the largest water footprints on the planet and dyeing poses an especially big problem. Bound To Change increase societal awareness of the use and release of hazardous substances into waterbodies. Changing consumer perception and consumption behavior is key in creating a toxic-free future, because fashion should not be at the expense of the Earth.

ISAIAH believes that the environmental problems caused by fashion consumerism is not a concern only for the fashion industry. Therefore, ISAIAH would team up with creatives of other artistic disciplines to educate and spread awareness of supporting and purchasing clothes dyed in natural dyes to their friends, fans and followers. They wear clothes too, after all. The creatives will be given walnut husk pigments to pledge their awareness and support for the medium by using it in their latest artistic endeavour, or create a project surrounding it.

Accompanying the movement is a collection tailored from linen that was hand-dyed in red cabbage , walnuts husks and indigo. The collection is ISAIAH’s pledge and proof that the colours produced from natural dye is comparable to those chemically dyed. Bound To Change hopes to evolve into a community project, involving as large of a crowd as possible.

Each piece in this collection is meticulously tailored with linen hand-dyed in red cabbage, walnut husks and indigo. The colours are specially formulated to rival the colours of synthetic dyes.

The creatives main role is to advocate for the use of natural dye using their artistic discipline to create an impactful statement and bring light to the situation through igniting conversations amongst their audience. They will have to document as much of the work in progress and end product as possible on their Instagram, and tag @ studioisaiah as well as include the hashtag #ipledgetochange in all visuals posted.
Accompanying captions should include content aimed at educating the audience of the issues identified in the movement, or to offer alternative solutions to the audience.
