This collection was made for the client MANUEL CANOVAS, Paris.
The brief of the collection was to proffer them with digital printed fabrics inspired from the Indian block prints, with the tinges of the same hues as of natural dyes. The essentials for the following designs were to make them in one single colour and maintain the essence of the inspiration with an attempt to contemporize it.
It is the essence of India and the crafts that makes India stand out in the world.
The word MERAKI- to do something with soul, creativity and putting oneself into the work is what I have achieved in making each artwork hereby keeping in mind the ethos and spirit that draws from the proficient hands of the Indian craftsmen. Brimming with colour and vitality, this collection for Manuel Canovas is a wonderfully eclectic ode to India’s rich history of textiles with the intent that:
‘The fabrics need to speak of soul and rootedness.’
